Another day, another set of photos from my Spring Break trip.
Currently working on the Mattel project, thinking about thesis proposals, looking for internships, attempting to keep my sanity, and trying to find time to sleep. All in a days work at IDII!
John Frazer spoke at our school today. He’s the author of An Evolutionary Architecture and currently works with Frank Gehry.
I also recently got my hands on a hardcopy version of the RED Health Paper (available here as a PDF), which is making for interesting reading. RED is a division of the Design Council in England. My partners in the service project last semester, Alex and Haiyan, are interning there this summer.
OK, back to Talponia for dinner…

Some students and professors from the RCA came to visit IDII a couple of weeks ago. We worked on some creativity activities together, and the following photos are from the “fashion show” at the end of the exercise.

It’s possible to get the sense of this article title without completely translating it. “Pendolari” are communters. “In ritardo” means “delayed.”

Needless to say, “treni” in Italy are “in ritardo” more of the time than not, so I’m not sure what it means for a newspaper to report on “pendolari” being angry about trains being late. Are the commuters even more angry than usual?

I finally finished commenting Day 3 of my trip during Spring Break. It’s now available for viewing in the gallery.
On Day 3 I visited the Vatican, and I’ll admit up front that I’m ignorant of most of the symbolic meanings within the church. The captions therefore tend to be a bit dry: this is a statue, this is a building. I was looking around the web for some more information about the cathedral, and I found this website which explains in more detail some of the things I took photos of. I’m sure there’s much more out there (google certainly knows the answer), but this is just a quick solution.
I recently upgraded the gallery application to the latest version, and I have a little bit of work to do on the design/style/layout of the gallery because a lot of things changed in the new version. I’m currently using a tweaked default “skin,” but I need to do more work with the CSS before it’s where I want it to be. So apologies in advance if things look a little strange. Hopefully I’ll be able to fix it up in the near future.
And if the plethora of phone-cam images that follows this post doesn’t make it too obvious, I finally pulled a lot of the photos off of my phone. I’ve been taking photos over the last while, but either not remembering or having the time to post them. So here they are, all at once. Time to do some spring cleaning!
Oh, speaking of google, check out this fun game that uses google:

If you you’re not sure, read on:

Two points about this sign.
1) I found this in Milano.
2) It’s in English.

This sign proves that Italians can create bad puns too.

I took this photo at night in Milano, so it might be hard to read. The sign says “Scarpe Diem”—scarpe means “shoes” in Italian, and is a play on “Carpe Diem” which means “seize the day”.

Some random photos of potato chip bags in Italy. I don’t think they require any explanation.
